Thai League to stop using VAR and ARR

Thai League will stop using VAR (Video Assist Referee) and AAR (Additional Assistant Referees) from this week, according to reports from Thailand.
In the meeting on March 7 lead by Football Association of Thailand (FAT) president Somyot Poompanmoung, the Thai League governing body decided to shut down the VAR and AAR system from April 1 due to lack of clarity and prior approval from FIFA and AFC.
If any club wants to use VAR or AAR, they can make a request, so the FAT will coordinate with the companies that operate those systems. However, the clubs will have to pay the operating fee, which is around 3,000-4,000 baht ($95-$128) per use.
VAR system was used for the first time in Thai football in the Thailand Champions Cup between Buriram United and Chiangrai United on January 19. In this match, Buriram striker Diogo Luis Santo has been the first player who gets red card from VAR.
